Letter to Financial Institutions

In the event of a strike or lockout, members should approach their financial institutions to see if arrangements could be made to defer such things as mortgage payments or loan payments.

To assist members in doing so, a letter from UWOSA to financial institutions explaining the situation is available. The letter can be found here.

UWOSA Files for Conciliation

As you know, our collective agreement expired on June 30. Your negotiations team has been engaged in collective bargaining with the administration since June 25. To date, we have had six bargaining sessions. Today was our last scheduled session.

Your negotiations team is committed to getting you a fair collective agreement as soon as possible. We have conveyed to the administration our willingness to continue to meet and come to an agreement. However, they have indicated to us that they will not meet with us again until August 28th. This is frustrating your team and the collective bargaining process.

In an effort to bring the administration back to the table earlier than August 28, the negotiations team has decided to file for conciliation today.

As always, we will keep you informed of the process. The negotiations team appreciates all of the support we receive from UWOSA members as we are working for you.

With your support, we can reach a fair and equitable agreement.

Vice President and
Chair, Negotiations Team

Welcome New UWOSA Stewards

UWOSA is thrilled to announce Leesa Couper, as Area B Steward (Dental Sciences). You may be familiar with Leesa, who recently was featured in Western News for her volunteer work with Salthaven Wildlife Rehabilitation and Education Centre.

We are also thrilled to welcome back Val Van Domelen as the alternate Steward for Area F (Social Sciences). Val has served as a Steward in the past, as well as UWOSA's Second Vice President, when that role existed.
