UWOSA is an independent union representing approximately 860 administrative and technical staff at the University of Western Ontario. Our members work in every area of the University in a wide variety of roles. We are Academic Counselling Assistants, Admissions Coordinators, Animal Care Technicians, Booth Attendants, Computer Specialists, Dental Assistants, Drivers, Events Coordinators, Faculty Affairs Assistants, Graduate Coordinators, Horticultural Technicians, Laboratory Supervisors, Library Assistants, OSAP Coordinators, Prospect Researchers, Research Assistants, Residence Clerks, Schedulers, Secretaries, Storeskeepers, Technical Supervisors and Undergraduate Assistants (and so much more).

*SECOND BATCH OF PDQ COMMUNICATIONS BEING RELEASED*

Any UWOSA members with PDQs submitted between January 1, 2017 and up until June 30, 2017 - your PDQ results will be released between Wednesday, January 10th and Friday, January 12th

If a PDQ was submitted for you during this period, you will receive an email notification from OWL when your results are available.  Please note – over the next 3 days, they will be released based on the order they were submitted.

To access this important information, please follow the link within the email to the OWL site and navigate through the following tabs:

  • click `membership' tab (on left side of page)
  • click `UWOSA JES Communications'
  • click `drop box' (on left side of page)

Once in your `drop box', you will see the list of information included in your 'results package'. Your results package will include a summary letter, the PDQ submitted for your role, evaluation notes, and the confirmation and appeal form.

Please REVIEW your package thoroughly.  

If you are satisfied with the evaluation, follow the instructions contained within your summary letter and complete the enclosed form to sign acceptance. 

If you DO NOT agree with the evaluation, please document your concerns on the enclosed appeal form.  We encourage you to review the Appeal Process as outlined within the Collective Agreement and fill out the Appeal Form contained within your results package.  The deadline to Appeal will be outlined within your summary letter.

Please ensure you do not rush to submit your appeal, but ensure that your appeal is merited by reviewing the rating guidelines as outlined in Schedule A of our Collective Agreement.    You will have a much better appeal experience, if you take the time to review all the relevant information and include the necessary details within your appeal.

For those with PDQs date stamped after December 31, 2016, sit-tight - your information will be following shortly.

If you fall in this first batch rolled out, you will have received an email from Katie Osborne to your UWO email address.

UWOSA 2018 Call for Nominations

Dear Members,

As you finish your last couple of working days in 2017, I'd like to draw your attention to the upcoming UWOSA Elections for 2018.

The Elections Committee would like to encourage all members to consider the health of the Association in the long term. A robust and active membership will ensure that the benefits we all enjoy, continue on for new and future members.

Reminder: UWOSA General Meeting: December 6, 2017, Noon to 2:00 p.m.

The General Meeting will be held on Wednesday, December 6, 2017, from Noon until 2:00 p.m. in the McKellar Theatre, 290 UCC.

Please bring your Western ID card to gain admittance to the meeting.
Per our Collective Agreement, Article 7.07 (Union Representation), you are entitled to 2 hours without loss of pay or reduction of benefits, to attend this general membership meeting. These 2 hours include your regularly scheduled meal period. In addition, if you work away from main campus, you are entitled to up to one hour of additional time for travel. This time does not need to be made up.
