DATES TO REMEMBER from your UWOSA Membership/Social Committee

Hello everyone.

I will begin this note with a belated wish for a Happy, Healthy, New Year!

With the long round of negotiations over and the Christmas holidays celebrated a month ago!!, it is time to look forward to events and projects for 2011. Hopefully, most of you read about two of our upcoming items in the December Newsletter.

Our annual photo contest, postponed from September, is closing Monday January 31st. Please deliver or send your submissions to the UWOSA Office, UCC Room 255 by noon on January 31st. Judging will take place on February 4 and winners will be posted on our website by Feb. 7.

You may enter one original photo for each category: People, Places and Things. Be sure to have your name, campus address and phone number on the back of each print. Prizes will be awarded for first and second place photos. All members who submit an entry will be eligible for a draw for Lunch for 2 at Michael’s.

The Annual UWOSA Valentines luncheon will be held on Thursday February 17, in the Great Hall, Somerville House. There will be two sittings as always - 12:00 and 1:00. The George Laidlaw Quartet will provide music for us once again this year.

Please bring a non-perishable food item for the London and Area Food Bank , alternately, cash donations will also be accepted. There will be door prizes :)

TICKETS will be available for pick up from 12:00-2:00 pm on Thursday Feb.10, and Friday Feb. 11, in the UWOSA Office, UCC Room 255. Please bring your ID with you.

This will be our 3rd Annual Sock Drive for the Youth Action Centre. We will be accepting donations of new or gently used socks for youth from age 12-19. This project helps to replenish supplies of clean dry socks for our street youth, who desperately need dry warm socks to replace worn, wet socks when they go into the Centre for some relief from the winter elements.

Your response in the past two years has been amazing! Last year we collected approximately 1,300 pairs of socks, and I am expecting your generosity will be exceptional once again this year. I am very proud of our donations to this project, it shows that we care very much for the youth of our city.

Please drop your donations off at the UWOSA Office, or contact me at for directions to drop them off to me at the Bookstore in UCC.

Thanks for your support.

Denise Farr,
