FREE opportunity for female UWOSA members who want to quit smoking

FREE Smoking Cessation Program – Getting Physical on Cigarettes

Getting Physical on Cigarettes is a research study funded by the Canadian Cancer Society. The purpose of Getting Physical on Cigarettes is to help women quit smoking – for good. All participants in this program will receive a 10-week nicotine replace therapy system (NicoDerm patch) and a 14-week exercise program. The exercise program will be completed at the University of Western Ontario in a private work-out facility (www.ehpl.uwo.ca).

A participant will also be given the option to know the results of her body composition, lung health, vascular health, and fitness tests. She will have the opportunity to know the measured positive changes occurring in her body with exercise adherence and smoking abstinence.

The next group of participants will be starting in December. A participant information session will be held on November 25th at 6pm in the Health Sciences Building room 240. If you have any questions or if you are interested in becoming a participant, please contact Lyndsay (phone: 519.661.3211 or email: lfitzgeo@uwo.ca).
