October 11th Solidarity Rally - MOVED to the Marconi Club

The rally announced for Thursday October 11 has been relocated to the Marconi Club at 120 Clark Road.

The Ontario Liberal Party fundraiser was originally to be held at the Four Points Sheraton and will now be held at the Marconi Club, perhaps to prevent another massive turnout at the Solidarity Rally.

Stand in solidarity and show the Liberals how strong labour is on Thursday, October 11, 2012 at 5:00 p.m., Marconi Club, 120 Clarke Road, London.

Please share this information with colleagues and friends.

Stewards Council Appoints Interim Officers

The UWOSA office welcomes Denise Farr, who was appointed interim Vice President, to serve until April 30, 2012. Also, we are happy to report that Karen Foullong, Area Q Steward, was appointed to replace Denise as UWOSA's Membership Services Officer during this time.

Many of you may know Denise from the UWOSA Luncheons and annual BBQs that she and her committee organize for members each year, and Karen from her role as Area Q Steward or as part of the 2010 UWOSA negotiations team.

NEW Health Care Spending Account for UWOSA Members - Effective April 1, 2012

Effective April 1, 2012, a Health Care Spending Account (HCSA) benefit is available for continuing and sessional UWOSA members. Each member will be allocated $325 per calendar year (for family coverage) or $200 per calendar year (for single coverage) for their HCSA.

Your Health Care Spending Account can be used to cover medical and dental expenses that are not covered (or only partially covered) by your Extended Health and Dental Plan. For instance, you can use it to help pay for prescription dispensing costs, for the portion of a dental bill you would normally pay for yourself, for chiropractors, physiotherapists and massage therapists, and a wide variety of other expenses.

Unused funds from the HCSA may be carried forward one calendar year, but tax laws do not allow it to be carried beyond one year. HCSA allocations that are unused by the end of the second calendar year will be forfeited.
