Update on Collective Bargaining

Dear UWOSA members,

Thank you to all members who attended the area meetings over the past two weeks.

As you know, UWOSA has filed for conciliation with the Ministry of Labour. Conciliator Mary Beth Furanna has been appointed. Our next scheduled date for collective bargaining with the administration is Friday, August 23, with the conciliator in attendance. Your Negotiations Team remains committed to achieving an equitable collective agreement on your behalf.

Subject to approval of the Executive and Stewards Council next week, an Information Meeting for the Purpose of a Vote will be held on Thursday, August 29 at 12:00 pm in the Great Hall (Somerville House). The agenda for this meeting would be sent to you on August 22. This would either be a Ratification Vote or a Strike Vote, depending on how negotiations progress. Voting would begin immediately after the meeting and polls would also be open on Friday, August 30 from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm.

Please review the Member Area of the UWOSA website for information on Strike Headquarters, Strike Captain Training, Preparing for a Strike or Lockout as well as other resources. Although we hope for the best, we must be prepared for any eventuality. We have re-iterated to the administration that UWOSA's Negotiations Team remains committed to achieving a collective agreement before job action becomes necessary and that we are available to negotiate at any time.

We will keep you informed of any further developments.
