UWOSA is an independent union representing approximately 860 administrative and technical staff at the University of Western Ontario. Our members work in every area of the University in a wide variety of roles. We are Academic Counselling Assistants, Admissions Coordinators, Animal Care Technicians, Booth Attendants, Computer Specialists, Dental Assistants, Drivers, Events Coordinators, Faculty Affairs Assistants, Graduate Coordinators, Horticultural Technicians, Laboratory Supervisors, Library Assistants, OSAP Coordinators, Prospect Researchers, Research Assistants, Residence Clerks, Schedulers, Secretaries, Storeskeepers, Technical Supervisors and Undergraduate Assistants (and so much more).

University of Windsor Ratifies Collective Agreement

UWOSA Members Deliver 95% Strike Mandate

720 UWOSA members turned out to vote and delivered the negotiations team a 95% Strike Mandate. Ballots were cast on Tuesday, October 5th (following an information meeting), and again on Wednesday, October 6.

UWOSA has been without a contract since June 30, 2010.

"We will continue to bargain in good faith to achieve a fair and equitable collective agreement for our members," said Deb Novakowski, UWOSA President. "We will continue to resist attempts to erode the benefits we've worked so hard to achieve for our members since we certified over a decade ago."

UWOSA filed for conciliation to help advance negotiations. The first meeting with the conciliator is Friday, October 8th. UWOSA members will not be in a legal strike position until a no-board report has been requested and 17 days have passed after its authorization by the Ontario Minister of Labour.

Bargaining Bulletin: June 2, 2010

Our Negotiations Team met with the UWO Team on Friday, May 28, 2010 to exchange proposals. Discussions followed where each side outlined their proposal with a brief explanation as to what they were trying to accomplish with it. While some major items have been tabled there have been no monetary proposals exchanged. This will be done after the majority of issues currently proposed have been dealt with.
