UWOSA is an independent union representing approximately 860 administrative and technical staff at the University of Western Ontario. Our members work in every area of the University in a wide variety of roles. We are Academic Counselling Assistants, Admissions Coordinators, Animal Care Technicians, Booth Attendants, Computer Specialists, Dental Assistants, Drivers, Events Coordinators, Faculty Affairs Assistants, Graduate Coordinators, Horticultural Technicians, Laboratory Supervisors, Library Assistants, OSAP Coordinators, Prospect Researchers, Research Assistants, Residence Clerks, Schedulers, Secretaries, Storeskeepers, Technical Supervisors and Undergraduate Assistants (and so much more).

Updated Seniority List Available

A new seniority list, complete to January 1, 2015, has now been posted in the Member Area of the UWOSA website (www.uwosa.ca). You must be logged in to access the Member Area. If you do not have your login information, please contact Mary Hay (ext 85089 or email: mary.hay@uwosa.ca).

REMINDER: Valentine's Day Luncheon - Ticket Distribution

Ticket distribution for the Valentine's Day Luncheon will be held in the UWOSA office, UCC 255 at the following dates and times:

Thursday, February 5 from Noon to 2:00 p.m.
Friday, February 6 from Noon to 2:00 p.m.

Valentine's Day Luncheon
Thursday, February 12th
Two Seatings: Noon - 1:00 p.m. OR 1:00 - 2:00 p.m.
Please remember you must have a ticket at the appropriate designated seating to enter.

There will be a vegetarian option; however, if you have any other special dietary needs, please email Yolanda directly at great.hall.catering@uwo.ca by Monday, February 9th.

To support our community we are asking that you bring non-perishable food items for the London Food Bank. Monetary donations will also be collected.

Suggested items include: powdered milk, oatmeal, canned beans, canned tuna, peanut butter, canned fruit/vegetables, canned juice, rice, pasta, canned pasta sauce, baby food in jars, baby formula, canned stew, or granola bars

Career Progression Sessions for UWOSA Members

Dear UWOSA Members,

Further to Appendix G of our collective agreement, Human Resources will be providing Career Progression Sessions for UWOSA members. These sessions will be approximately 2.5 hours in length, and will be held in the Support Services Building, Room 4210.

Sessions will cover the following topics:

• What is my ideal job?
• What is important to me?
• What is work life balance for me?
• What do I have to offer?
• What do I do well?
• What have I consistently been recognized for?
• What would I like to stop doing?
• What am I willing to learn?
• Who needs my skills?
• What evidence do I have of my success record?
• Changing World of Work
• Future Direction of Work at Western – review of strategic directions for the University
• What can I do to prepare myself for the next career opportunity?

There will be a limit of 25 participants per session, and registration will be available to members on a first-come, first-served basis. If there is sufficient interest, future sessions will also be scheduled. Currently, the following sessions are scheduled:

January 23, 2015 at 9:00 am
January 26, 2015 at 1:00 pm
January 29, 2015 at 9:00 am
February 9, 2015 at 1:00 pm
March 26, 2015 at 1:00 pm
April 20, 2015 at 1:00 pm
May 4, 2015 at 9:00 am
